Protests were blocking multiple traffic lanes Friday afternoon in the Downtown Los Angeles Civic Center area, police said.
Three demonstrations were blocking traffic at Aliso Street between Los Angeles and Alameda Streets, Los Angeles Street between Aliso and Temple Street, and at Spring Street between Temple and 1st Street, according a post on X by the Los Angeles Police Department Central Division around 12:30 p.m.
A “Free Them All” protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations that have persisted in the area was planned for noon on July 4 to midnight outside of the Downtown LA Federal Building on Alameda Street, according to social media posts from Instagram account @ICE_out_ofLA.
By around 2 p.m., protesters had made it to LA City Hall on Spring Street.
Police continue to urge people to use caution in the area.
