The U.S women’s national soccer team roster for the SheBelieves Cup is divided almost down the middle – Olympic gold medalists on one side, newcomers on the other.

Twelve players are returning from the 2024 Paris Olympics roster, and they will play alongside 10 women called up for their first SheBelieves Cup. Four have never played a game with the national team.

This will be the first SheBelieves Cup for head coach Emma Hayes, who named the 23-player roster on Tuesday.

“This team is still growing, and I continue to be impressed with the dedication of our player pool to get better, individually and as a group,” Hayes said in a statement.

The four uncapped players, Tara McKeown, Claire Hutton, Michelle Cooper and Gisele Thompson have all represented the U.S. at a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup match, according to a statement by U.S. Soccer.

“The theme of increased opportunity for the player pool once again will be at the forefront during the three SheBelieves Cup matches,” according to a U.S. Soccer advisory.

The roster features 16 players from the National Women’s Soccer League and five players from various European clubs.

The SheBelieves Cup will start in Houston before moving to Glendale, Arizona. It concludes in San Diego at Snapdragon Stadium on Feb. 26.

The finale in San Diego will be played against Japan as part of a doubleheader also featuring Australia vs. Colombia. Both of the latter teams will be competing in the SheBelieves Cup for the first time.

Former San Diego Wave FC defender Naomi Girma was not named to the roster. According to the advisory, Girma continues to work on recovering from a calf injury. Girma recently became the first female player involved in a $1 million transfer, going from San Diego Wave FC to Chelsea FC in January.
