Almost as famous as the race itself is the Kentucky Derby Mint Julep. In Louisville, Kentucky, the flavors of the classic cocktail (made with muddled mint leaves, simple syrup and bourbon) are celebrated and enjoyed in sweets too.
There, The Bakery at Sullivan University sells more than 100 dozen mint julep cupcakes during Derby week. And around this time, they also offer a riff on chocolate cream pie that’s almost as thrilling as the most exciting two minutes in sports! This Kentucky Derby dessert needs to be at your party.
