— Gamecock Baseball (@GamecockBasebll) May 3, 2025Playing baseball this weekend has been a chore across the SEC, and especially in Columbia. Game 1 was delayed Friday night and didn’t end until 1:30 a.m. due to a delayed 10 p.m. start time. The game was originally set to start at 7 p.m. and lasted just 9 minutes before play was stopped due to lightning.
The Gators came out on top in that one once it eventually got going, winning 9-5 behind a pair of excellent outings from Luke Heyman and Ty Evans, who combined for 6 runs on 4 hits. Evans’ Grand Slam in the 5th inning put the Gators up 8-4, and they never looked back.
The Gators will look to lock up the series Sunday afternoon assuming the weather finally decides to cooperate.
