Waterloo Road season 15 release date, cast, filming locations and episode guide

It is a new term at Waterloo Road with a new headteacher hoping to steer a smoother course for pupils and staff at the Manchester school after a spectacular fall from grace.

The last series saw former headteacher Steve Savage (Jason Manford) and his son Billy arrested after year 11 pupil Boz Osborne was found dead.

Now Lindsey Coulson has joined the cast as new headteacher Dame Stella Drake.

The ex-Ofsted director is attempting to restore law and order and rebuild the reputation of Waterloo Road, which is currently tarnished as the ‘murder school’.

Meanwhile, trainee teacher Donte Charles faces his first hurdle when he locks horns with an unruly new boy and juggles a secret liaison with a member of staff.

And Jared Jones attempts to win the favour of his history teacher to keep him sweet on his new relationship with girlfriend Libby Guthrie.

As ever, there is more on the curriculum than just academic studies.

    Where is Waterloo Road filmed?

Waterloo Road is set and filmed in Manchester.

Since series 14, the fictional school has had academy-status and was rebranded the Greater Manchester Academy.

Filming for this takes place in a former Manchester College campus in the city centre.

Production staff repurposed the empty building to create the fictional school after the college moved to new premises.

Jonny Cope, the show’s locations manager, told the Manchester Evening News last year: “We have been able to use an old Manchester college site after they moved their students to a different campus.

“The college itself has been great as we’ve also been able to use some of their other campus sites for other locations in the series.

“We’ve made some changes inside, some of the old classrooms have been used for dressing rooms, and costume spaces.

“But pretty much every room in the building is used.

“One of the most bizarre things is we film a lot in the canteen, but we also use it for our own canteen to eat at too, it’s quite a bit to get your head around!”

The show has been filmed at a variety of different school premises over the years.

From series one to seven, it was located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester at Top Hill School on the Kirkholt Estate.

From series eight to 10, it was located in Greenock, Scotland.

And following the reboot, it was based at the former St Ambrose Barlow Roman Catholic High School building in Swinton before moving in to the city location.
