LONG BEACH — An 18-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting another man in Long Beach was taken into custody Thursday.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Via Camelitos at around 1:15 p.m. Dec. 10 to reports regarding shots fired, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The victim, later identified as 32-year-old Dwayne Walton of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives identified the suspect as Mario Amarion Jennings of Rancho Cucamonga and, with the assistance of Special Investigations and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department SWAT personnel, arrested him Thursday in Rancho Cucamonga.
Jennings was booked into the Long Beach City Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $3 million bail.
The motive for the shooting remained under investigation.
