Jane was a standout character during Survivor: Nicaragua in the fall of 2010. An opening twist separated the 20 castaways into two tribes based on age. Jane started out on the older Espada tribe, the season's oldest castaway at 56. She played alongside legendary NFL Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson, and even took part in voting him out of the tribe on Day 9. She also began a rivalry with tribe member Marty Piombo, and joined up with the younger tribe members with the sole intention of taking him and his allies out.

Despite her age and small frame, Jane showed herself to be, as coined by Survivor 48 contestant Charity Nelms, "farm strong." She was one of the season's biggest providers, helping keep the fire and catch fish for her tribe. In one memorable moment, she even kept one of her catches to herself, eating a whole fish in private. Jane also proved her mettle in the show's challenges, winning two individual Immunity Challenges in the latter half of the game.

As the game wore on, Jane found herself comfortably part of the majority, most prominently connected with her fellow North Carolina resident in Chase Rice (who appeared on the program prior to his meteoric rise as a country star). However, after tribe target (and eventual winner) Jud "Fabio" Birza won immunity, her alliance decided to turn on her, feeling she was too big of a threat to win. In response, Jane went on a tirade, flipping off her tribe members and dousing the camp fire, saying, "I started it, I'm putting it out". She would be voted off unanimously later that night, and was one of the four jury members to vote for Chase to win.

Despite her acrimonious departure, Jane was regarded as one of the most popular players of the season by the Survivor fandom. As a result, as the live reunion show, it was revealed that she had won the Sprint Fan Favorite audience prize, along with $100,000.

Jane Bright's cause of death has yet to be revealed.
