A Denver man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
Gabriel Estrada, 30, was convicted by a federal jury on Oct. 25, 2024, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Wyoming press release.

Estrada messaged the agent, who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, asking about her sexual experience and if she would have sex with him.
Estrada drove two hours to Laramie to meet with the girl, only to be arrested by police officers. Officers confiscated Estrada’s iPhone, which contained messages sent to the fake 13-year-old, and two condoms.
“The internet can be a dangerous place for our children because of people like this defendant, a fully grown man who wanted to have sex with a 13-year-old girl and did everything he could to make that happen,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Heimann.
The case was investigated by the Laramie Police Department and the FBI as part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to fight the increase in child sexual abuse and exploitation across the nation. The initiative allocates federal, state and local resources to locate and apprehend those who exploit children through the internet.
