Homicide investigators were asking the public for help Monday to determine how two octogenarians were injured over the weekend, one fatally, in a home near Shadowridge Golf Club.
A person checking on the welfare of the 82-year-old man and 81-year-old woman in the 1200 block of Columbus Way in Vista at about 11 a.m. Sunday discovered that they both had suffered suspicious wounds.
The woman’s injuries were fatal.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was admitted in undisclosed condition, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement did not immediately disclose the nature of the pair’s injuries or specify the relationship between the man and woman.
“Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, the sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation,” the department said in a release.
“Based on the information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. There is no apparent danger to the community.”
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit at (858) 285-6330, or after hours at (858) 868-3200. Callers can remain anonymous by contacting San Diego Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
