Wayne Bridge’s upcoming clash with KSI won’t be his first fight in the squared circle.
The former Chelsea and Manchester City left-back previously defeated Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews in an exhibition bout for Comic Relief in 2018.
The pair duked it out over three two-minute rounds in a bout that saw Bridge score two standing eight counts en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Matthews came out on the front foot, looking to roll the dice, but as the fight wore on Bridge’s cardio proved to be the decider.
After a close opening round, Bridge gained a foothold in the contest and began to force Matthews onto his heels with some big right hands.
Towards the end of the second stanza, Bridge landed a clubbing right that buckled Matthews’ knees, forcing the referee to administer a count.
Bridge then proceeded to batter his exhausted adversary from pillar to post before scoring another standing eight-count in the third round courtesy of a fast flurry.
For seven years, Bridge never stepped foot in a boxing ring again.
However, that is set to change on March 29 when he squares off with YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI.
The fight was announced on Saturday night when the 44-year-old – who was capped 36 times for England – faced off with KSI at a Misfits Boxing event in Manchester.
KSI, real name JJ Olatunji, immediately went on the offensive by taking a brutal swipe at Bridge’s previous relationship with French underwear model Vanessa Perroncel.
Former Chelsea team-mates Bridge and John Terry famously fell out over allegations that Terry had an affair with Bridge’s ex-girlfriend, in 2009, which she later denied.
Bridge is now set to face KSI on a Misfits Boxing showGETTYTerry and Bridge were relentlessly goaded by rival supporters over the situation and haven’t seen eye to eye since.
Taking to the mic overnight, KSI said: “Wayne Bridge, aren’t you the guy that let John Terry smash your ex?
“That is what you are known for.”
Bridge replied: “You want to go there, do you?”
He then mocked Bridge by singing: “Vanessa Woah, she jumped on Terry’s d***, it made the big boy feel sick.”
The British YouTube star followed up the tasteless chant by pushing Bridge as security stepped in and broke up the pair.

talkSPORT.com understands that KSI’s crossover clash will form part of a three-fight plan for KSI, which was revealed by Mams Taylor last week.
“KSI will fight three times this year,” said Taylor.
“Fight 1 will be a great surprise and very interesting. Fight 2 and 3, if people are worried we will take the same route as Jake…
“He will not be fighting retired MMA fighters, these will be serious opponents.
“It will be epic and I can’t wait to announce it all, but for now focus will be on fight one and his huge comeback.”
