JD Vance was sort of booked for Jan. 20, you might say.
Now, the former U.S. Senator from Ohio and soon-to-be Vice President of the United States has a bit of a conundrum, and it has nothing to do with politics. With Ohio State taking down Texas, 28-14, in Friday night’s College Football Playoff semifinal, the Buckeyes have advanced to play Notre Dame in the national title game.
So, what’s the problem, especially for a former Ohio senator who should be happy that his home state team is playing for a championship.
Well, it’s the date of that title game. The game is on Jan. 20 in Atlanta.
And, unless you’ve been living under a rock, Vance is scheduled that morning to take the oath of the United States in becoming its next Vice President. Talk about a cluster in the calendar that would have many clamoring for a fix. But Vance took the high road late Friday night, tweeting that he just might have to get to that game and, well, can’t the inauguration be put off for another day?
Vance tweeted: “Hopefully everyone is cool with me skipping the inauguration so I can go to the national title game.”

— JD Vance (@JDVance) January 11, 2025No matter what side of the political aisle you’re on, the tweet was good for a laugh at the end of a long night of college football.
