Real estate’s top agents send messages of support amid Southern California wildfires

Real estate agents intimately familiar with Southern California’s coastal and hillside homes posted heartfelt messages Wednesday, Jan. 8 on Instagram, expressing their support for those affected by wildfires ravaging the region.

Tracy Tutor, Tim Smith and Aaron Kirman were among those reacting to the now six fires, which burned more than 27,000 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties by midday.

“This morning I landed in my hometown of Los Angeles to absolute devastation,” Tutor, the “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star of Compass, shared in an Instagram post featuring a photo of a firefighter silhouetted against a burning house while carrying a hose. “For all my friends and clients who have been directly affected by the fires, I am here in whatever capacity you need. Just call. To the brave firefighters out there saving lives, animals and homes, please stay safe. My heart goes out to all of you. Please pray for Los Angeles everyone.”

A fierce Santa Ana windstorm, with hurricane-force gusts of up to 100 miles per hour, ignited and rapidly spread wildfires in many areas of Los Angeles and eastern Ventura counties. Firefighters are battling the Palisades fire, Eaton fire near Pasadena, Hurst fire in Sylmar, Woodley Fire near Sepulveda Basin, Olivas fire and Lidia fire in Acton.

The L.A. County fires have killed five people and destroyed more than 1,000 structures, according to the latest reports.

All of the fires are 0% contained.

“Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation being caused by the wildfires currently ravaging Los Angeles,” Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty, posted on Instagram Story. “We are deeply saddened for the families who have lost their homes, their belongings, and more heartbreakingly, their loved ones. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the importance of community, resilience, and compassion during times of crisis.”

To those affected, please know that our thoughts, prayers and support are with you. To the incredible first responders who are risking their lives on the front lines–firefighters, emergency personnel, and volunteers–we owe you an immeasurable debt of gratitude. Your courage, selflessness, and tireless efforts to protect lives and communities in the face of such overwhelming danger inspires us all. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and sacrifice. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for everything you do.”

Kirman of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California posted in an Instagram Story, “My thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating fires throughout Los Angeles. Please prioritize your safety, support one another, and don’t hesitate to reach out if I can provide assistance in any way.”

Estel Hilton of The Beverly Hills Estates shared on Instagram Story about 211la.org‘s partnership with Airbnb, which allows “anyone who has been evacuated because of the Palisades Fire” free temporary housing. She also touted her agency’s fully furnished properties in all of the Westside, San Fernando Valley and Orange County.

And Compass agent Taya DiCarlo posted a series of video messages to her followers on Instagram Story, including a how-to turn on iPhone emergency alerts with screenshots. “Because it’s going to effect (sic) how quickly you receive any of these emergency notices to evacuate,” she said. “So please, please, please make sure you have your alerts on and stay safe out there.”
