Mandy Moore, Mark Hamill and More Stars Evacuate Their Homes Amid California Fires

With devastating wildfires raging in California, several celebrities have evacuated their homes. Eugene Levy, who is honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades, told the Los Angeles Times on Jan. 7 that he was stuck in traffic while trying to flee.

"The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon,” the Schitt's Creek star said. "I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”

Police Academy actor Steve Guttenberg was out on Tuesday helping move abandoned cars on Palisades Drive. Speaking to KTLA 5’s Gene Kang, Guttenberg, who lives in the area, urged individuals to leave keys inside of vehicles that are being left behind "so a guy like me can move your car" and the "fire trucks can get up there.”

"There are people stuck up there. So we’re trying to clear Palisades Drive and I’m walking up there as far as I can moving cars,” Guttenberg said, revealing that he had "friends up there right now" that couldn't evacuate because "it's stuck on Palisades Drive."

This Is Us actress Mandy Moore was among the stars who fled her home. On Tuesday evening, the mom of three shared on her Instagram Story that she had evacuated and was safe with her kids [sons Gus and Ozzie and daughter Louise], dog and cats.

"Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night. Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don't know if our place made it. #eatonfire," Moore penned in another post.

Hours after "successfully" evacuating his home, James Woods revealed that all of the smoke detectors were going off in his house and transmitting to his iPhone. "I couldn’t believe our lovely little home in the hills held on this long," the Hercules actor posted on X. "It feels like losing a loved one."

Star Wars star Mark Hamill admitted that he evacuated Malibu "so last-minute," but a little over an hour later, he arrived at his daughter Chelsea Hamill's house in Hollywood.

According to TMZ, Ben Affleck was evacuated from his home. He is said to have rushed to his ex-wife Jennifer Garner's home nearby. Page Six reported on Jan. 8 that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have to evacuate their home in Montecito, where they reside with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

California's Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Tuesday, as did City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

"We’ve declared a state of emergency to amplify our response to this devastating fire and clear a path for a rapid recovery,” Mayor Bass, who was reportedly is in Africa on a delegation trip to attend the inauguration of Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama, said in a statement. "To the thousands of families impacted by this horrific fire – the City of Los Angeles is providing resources and shelter as this emergency continues. To the hundreds of brave firefighters and first responders who have been responding all day to this blaze – we thank you. The City is working aggressively to confront this emergency.”
