The landmark deal means that Prime will be showing 66 regular-season games every year starting from the 2025-26 campaign.

And Amazon have now announced their studio lineup for their inaugural season of streaming.

It was announced yesterday that the team will be led by journalist and host Taylor Rooks, alongside retired NBA superstars Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki.

Rooks took to Instagram to share her excitement at joining the team.

She wrote: “A dream came true today. I’ve never felt more proud.

“To host Amazon’s NBA coverage alongside legends like Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin and build a show that’s engaging, informative, entertaining, and most importantly- for the fan.

“The NBA has been a community for me my entire career.”

Adding: “I’m so thankful for everything that has shaped me so far.

“Being 18 hustling at University of Illinois…to the Big Ten network…to SNY…to Bleacher Report and TNT. This is 10+ years in the making.

“My career has been shaped exclusively by my unwavering commitment, experiences & people that have believed in me and my work.

“I’m forever in deep appreciation for Amazon for this role & constant culture of empowerment that exists in our family.

“There is so much more to come from Prime’s Live Sports Coverage. Let’s hoop.”

Six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin said: “I have been incredibly impressed with Amazon’s NFL programming for Thursday Night Football, and my conversations with the team around the NBA partnership have been equally inspiring.

While 2006/07 MVP Nowitzki released a statement that read: “I am excited to join the Amazon family and honored to be a part of its NBA coverage.

“I have always wanted to remain close to the game that I love and building something new alongside this talented crew is an experience I look forward to.

“I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity and cannot wait to get started.”

The trio will work out of a studio based out of Los Angeles for their coverage.

Amazon’s coverage will include an opening-week doubleheader, a new Black Friday NBA game, and all games from the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup, including the in-season tournament’s semi-finals and finals.
