The View is known for focusing on divisive topics in each show, and during the Jan. 6 episode—the anniversary of the 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol—co-host Whoopi Goldberg's choice of clothing appeared to make a clear statement about her personal beliefs.
During one segment of the new episode, the cast shared their thoughts on the purpose of remembering and talking about the Jan. 6 attack each year, with Sunny Hostin stating, "Past becomes prologue if you forget and erase."

Hostin then asked Goldberg her thoughts on President-elect Donald Trump's promises to pardon individuals who participated in the attack on Jan. 6, and while she shared a thoughtful response about whether or not Trump will be able to accomplish this, her sweatshirt also made a bold point.
"This is what he says he's going to do. Let us see if he is able to do it. I don't know that he's going to be able to do it or how it's going to sit with the American people," Goldberg stated.
During the new episode, Goldberg wore a sweatshirt with "1920" emblazoned on the front, with a white collar poking out of the top. While she didn't explain her choice of wardrobe, the year is likely a reference to the fact that the 19th Amendment, which gives women the right to vote, passed that year.
In recent months, the presidential election and other political issues have been regularly discussed on The View, so it's not too surprising to see the reference to an important year for women's rights in Goldberg's clothing.
As the 69-year-old went on to talk about democracy and what might or might not happen after Trump takes office, the sweatshirt was a subtle yet pointed statement about The View host's personal political beliefs.
