The town of Ulysses is set to receive over $520,000 from New York State’s Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation to replace an aging culvert on Garrett Road. The funding is part of a $28 million state initiative aimed at improving parks, historic sites, and infrastructure across New York.
Town officials highlighted the importance of addressing aging infrastructure, noting that Ulysses has secured approximately $2.8 million in grants over the past two years. The new culvert will reduce erosion, stabilize the streambank, and enhance aquatic connectivity in the Cayuga Lake watershed.
This grant is part of the state’s Environmental Protection Fund, distributed through the Regional Economic Development Councils, supporting long-term local projects that drive community growth and sustainability.
