Kroger apologizes as customer hits ‘frustrating’ coupon checkout issue forcing them to ‘watch each and every scan’

GROCERY giant Kroger has apologized to a customer online after the shopper shared their recent experience was a ‘scam.’

After sharing their frustration in a post on X, the shopper received a prompt and apologetic response from Kroger’s official social media account.

    The tweet started by addressing Kroger directly.

    “Digital coupons are a scam,” wrote an angry customer.

    continued, “I clip them in the app, and they do not come off at the register.”

    “You have to watch each and every scan.”

    Frustrated, the customer signed off by sharing, “But that is what they want.”

    Implying that the coupon set up at Kroger is designed to cause inconvenience.

    Kroger’s X account promptly replied to the complaint of the customer.

    The message said, “Hi Tony! We are so sorry to hear your digital coupons didn’t work.

    Kroger further stated, “We understand how frustrating it can be.”

    “May we ask you to send a DM with the loyalty card number?”

    No word from either party how the issue was resolved.

    SHOPPER WOES

    Elsewhere, Lowe’s was forced to apologize and investigate after a shopper was left waiting for almost an hour in store.

    Earlier this month, it was Target forced to apologize via social media.

    The popular chain apologized after ‘rude’ worker ‘refused to help’ a customer with their missing order.

    Walmart offered to look into the store’s checkout app after a shopper was upset when it appeared the app “malfunctioned.”

    How to use Kroger coupons

    Kroger accepts paper and digital coupons

    Customers can sign up for a shopper’s card and create a digital account on Kroger’s website or mobile app.

    To load coupons on to your card, click the “load to card” button on each coupon.

    Digital coupons and offers are deducted from a customer’s total purchase prior to paper coupons or any other discounts.

    Coupon start and end dates vary based on the offer.

    Shopper card holders who don’t have a digital account may receive the discounted pricing offered in a digital coupon or offer at the customer service desk.

    The customer claimed a pop-up showed on the screen and his basket was emptied.

    The shopper was using the retailer’s scan-and-go toll when the incident occured, according to an X post.

    Scan and go is one way customers can check out items at Walmart and it allows then to avoid any long lines.

    Meanwhile, at Hobby Lobby, a shopper walked out after a payment method was denied.

    Hobby Lobby is one of the few retailers which does not accept Apple Pay.

    Walmart has come under fire for not accepting Apple Pay either.

    Another Walmart customer was forced to abandon their full shopping cart after being denied Apple Pay.

    Plus, Home Depot confirmed it has rolled out Apple Pay after being bombarded with pleas from shoppers.
