If you are searching for a rom-com with a difference this Christmas then Laid may be the gift of the season.
The television series, launched by Peacock this week in the US, is a remake of the Australian series of the same name, delving in to the chaos of modern dating.
Created by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna, there is a murder mystery element to this romantic comedy which will keep viewers guessing.
Laid follows the story of event planner Ruby (Stephanie Hsu) who finds out her former lovers are dying one by one, in unusual ways and in the order she dated them.
After this becomes apparent, she is forced to trawl back through her dating timeline and confront her complicated past love life – the guys, the girls and the one-night stands.
With the help of her best friend AJ (Zosia Mamet) and old flame Richie (Michael Angarano), she must then try and work out what is going on, track them down and warn them.
Described by the makers of the show as “a f**ked-up rom-com” where the answer to “Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?” is a resounding “Yes, there is. The problem is definitely you.”
When is Laid out and how can I watch in the UK?
Laid premiers in the US on Thursday 19 December, with all eight half-hour episodes available to watch from just after midnight (ET).
Peacock is currently unavailable in the UK.
However, it can be accessed with the use of a VPN to connect to a US server and then download the Peacock app or website to watch Laid.
