CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Lamplighter Inn is almost closed. The rooms have been boarded up, and furniture and other remnants of the motel now sit outside of the building. Wednesday is the last day lamplighter inn tenants—if any—will spend inside the motel. "I've never lived like this in my life, and to serve the city of Charlotte, I don't want to ever see nobody live like I had to live," said Carolyn Toney. "Put a lien on those landlords."
