Crystal Springs police arrested lifelong resident Roger Horton in September 2023 on marijuana possession and resisting arrest charges during which he said they twice slammed his head on their police cruiser, causing a vision problem for a man who makes his living as a commercial painter. Unbeknown to him, police also were holding him on a subsequently unsubstantiated charge of assaulting a minor. Police produced a half-written narrative of the alleged assault and included the name of the minor in a report, which Mississippi Today is blurring out.
