Recent updates have revealed that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been diagnosed with cancer and has started chemotherapy treatment. This news has sparked concern among royal watchers and the public alike, as Middleton is a prominent figure in the British monarchy.
It is reported that Middleton was diagnosed with early-stage cancer and is undergoing a rigorous chemotherapy regimen to combat the disease. The Duchess has been open about her diagnosis and treatment plan, sharing updates with the public through official channels.
Kate, 42, said in a new written message Friday that she was still undergoing treatment for cancer but would attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on Saturday, her first official public appearance since she revealed the diagnosis earlier this year.
The annual military ceremony celebrates the official birthday of King Charles III, who will also attend after his cancer diagnosis.
Middleton’s last public engagement was in December, when she attended the royal family’s annual Christmas service at Sandringham. She had abdominal surgery in January and her cancer was revealed in post-operative tests.
Kate said her treatment will continue "for a few more months," adding, "On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."
Kate also confirmed in her message that she will join members of the royal family on Saturday for Trooping the Colour, the military parade held annually to mark the reigning monarch's official birthday.
Kate did not attend the Colonel's Review on June 8, which serves as a dress rehearsal for Trooping the Colour. The princess was named the honorary colonel of the Irish Guards in 2023, a role that involves representing the guardsmen at the Colonel's Review. James Bucknall took the salute in Kate's place, and the princess sent a note to the Irish Guards apologizing for her absence.
The princess has not participated in royal appearances since her family's annual Christmas church outing in 2023. Trooping the Colour will be the first royal event she has attended since, though she previously took time to review a report from an initiative she's involved in, The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, a senior palace aid confirmed in May.
