The NBA Playoffs are always an exciting time for basketball fans as they witness the best teams in the league battle it out for a chance at the championship title. One of the most anticipated matchups in this year's playoffs was between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves. In a thrilling game that kept fans on the edge of their seats, the Mavericks emerged victorious with a final score of 105-100.
Both teams displayed impressive skill and determination throughout the game, making it a closely contested matchup. The Mavericks' star player, Luka Doncic, put on a stellar performance with his scoring ability and playmaking skills, leading his team to victory. On the other hand, the Timberwolves showed resilience and fought hard until the final buzzer sounded.
They fall behind against the Minnesota Timberwolves here in the Western Conference Finals, and then go on some silly 27-1 run to come back and win it in the final minute. That’s what they did in the first three games, and why they had a 3-0 series lead.
On Tuesday night, with the American Airlines Center jumping well before tip off, this series finale felt inevitable. The Mavericks were going to win Game 4, and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011.
The Wolves have led in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter of every game in the series, and this time they finished the job.
Towns, who picked up his fifth foul midway through the third quarter, put the Wolves ahead for good on three-pointer with 5:41 remaining, then hit another from deep the next time down. Edwards put the Wolves up five with a jumper just inside the arc with 39 seconds left, and Minnesota hung on despite Edwards fouling Doncic on a made three-pointer for a three-point Dallas deficit with 12 seconds to go. Doncic missed the free throw, and Naz Reid hit a bucket to push the margin back to five with 11 seconds remaining.
The game continued on much the same in the third quarter. The Mavericks were able to take a slight lead a time or two, but mostly the Wolves kept just ahead of them, their lead around three to five points most of the quarter. Doncic and Irving were oddly passive to start the second half, combining for only eight points on six shots. Doncic did have three assists, though. Instead, the Mavericks were unexpectedly buoyed by Gafford and Jaden Hardy, who put up a combined 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
For Dallas, Doncic is eager to bounce back from what he perceived as a lackluster performance, even if it resulted in a triple-double in Game 4. He finished with 28 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists but shot 7-for-21 from the field.
Irving finished with 16 points on 6-for-18 shooting.
