Rangers win 2-1 over Panthers

The Rangers secured a hard-fought victory against the Panthers with a final score of 2-1. This win showcased the team's resilience and determination to come out on top in a highly competitive match. The players demonstrated their skill and teamwork throughout the game, effectively executing plays and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.

Both teams put up a strong defense, making it a close and intense contest until the very end. The Rangers' goalie made crucial saves to keep the Panthers at bay, while their offense created strategic plays to secure goals. The crowd was electrified by the back-and-forth action on the ice, cheering on their favorite players as they fought for every point.

The New York Rangers will look to even the Eastern Conference Final in Game 2 versus the Florida Panthers on Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers failed to show up in Game 1, getting shut out 3-0 on home ice Wednesday at MSG.

In order to find the last time the Blueshirts were shut out, you have to go all the way back to Dec. 9 against the Capitals.

Vincent Trocheck scored early and Igor Shesterkin made 26 saves for New York. Riding the excitement of having tough guy Matt Rempe back in the lineup, they showed a lot more life after being shut out 3-0 in the opener.

Carter Verhaeghe scored for Florida and Bobrovsky made 29 saves. The Panthers lost for only the second time in seven games away from home in the playoffs.

The series shifts to Florida for Games 3 and 4 on Sunday and Tuesday.

The last time that happened was Game 6 of the 2022 Eastern Conference Final, which the Rangers lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning to end their season.

Two years later, the No. 2 overall pick from the 2019 NHL Draft could be in the crosshairs again.

A recent point of pride for Rempe: solving a Vampire Escape Room in White Plains the other day with teammate Adam Edstrom and his girlfriend, a tale he enthusiastically shared after practice Friday.

"I was not off to a hot start, but Eddie was buzzing. And then the last half I had some elite codebreakers. I solved the puzzle. The guy was so impressed that he took us out for wings after, so it was a good job. I blew it away. It was some Zodiac sign puzzle. I didn't even know anything about Zodiac signs, but I cracked it. Not a big deal," he said. "So that was good. He took us out for wings, so that was fun."

Matt Rempe, the Rangers rookie who energized Madison Square Garden with his return to the lineup, said Goodrow was a "16-win" kind of player in the playoffs.

"Oh yeah. Goody's that guy," Rempe said. "Oh my gosh. That was unbelievable. That was an absolute snipe by him."
