No. 4 Alabama vs No. 1 Michigan

The highly anticipated matchup between No. 4 Alabama and No. 1 Michigan was a clash of the titans that had fans on the edge of their seats. The game showcased the best of college basketball, with both teams displaying exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

From the opening tip-off, it was evident that this game would be a battle for the ages. Alabama's relentless defense kept Michigan on their toes, while Michigan's precision passing and shooting left Alabama scrambling to keep up. The score remained close throughout the entire game, with each team trading baskets and making crucial defensive stops.

The Crimson Tide, who were back in the CFP after failing to qualify last season, finished 12-2. They rode an 11-game win streak into Monday's showdown but fell just short of earning head coach Nick Saban's eighth national title.

Alabama lost the battle in the trenches, surrendering six sacks to Michigan's defense. Midway through the third quarter, the momentum seemed to swing in Alabama's favor, up 17-13 and looking to march into Michigan territory, but a costly fumble by quarterback Jalen Milroe put the ball back into the hands of Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Alabama failed to score another touchdown from that point onwards.

Michigan will now await the winner of the Sugar Bowl between Washington and Texas to face in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 8 in Houston. It will be the first time the Wolverines will play in a national championship game since the BCS began in 1998, and they will be seeking their first national title since 1997. It was also Michigan’s first College Football Playoff win after losing in the semifinals the past two years.

Michgan overcame special teams miscues throughout the night, whether it was a two muffed punts at the start and end of regulation and missed kicks. Michigan Quarterback J.J. McCarthy earned Rose Bowl Offensive Player of the Game honors after completing 63 percent of his passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns.

It was a classic battle that showcased everything we love about college basketball: fierce competition, incredible skill, and unforgettable moments. Both teams should be commended for their outstanding performance on the court and for providing fans with an unforgettable experience that will be remembered for years to come.
