The Dolphins offense stalled and Baltimore scored 21 straight points in under 4:30 of game time spanning from the end of the first half to the start of the third quarter to open up a 35-13 lead.
Miami (11-5) got back within two possessions early in the fourth quarter on a one-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to running back De’Von Achane, but would not get any closer. The Ravens added three touchdowns in the final ten minutes to win 56-19.
The Dolphins opened the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown pass from Tagovailoa to De’Von Achane, but they failed to convert the two-point conversion and matters were made even worse when the Ravens immediately went down the field and scored again. Jackson hit Patrick Ricard for his fifth passing touchdown of the day.
The Ravens’ backups then got in on the act. Melvin Gordon scored on a seven-yard touchdown run before Tyler Huntley found Charlie Kolar for a 19-yard passing touchdown.
The Dolphins cannot face the Buffalo Bills if they lose next Sunday because Buffalo then would land the No. 2 seed and play at home against the No. 7 seed.
Kansas City currently has a one-game lead over the three AFC South teams, holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over Jacksonville, hold the conference record tiebreaker over Houston, and currently has the lead over Indianapolis in terms of strength of wins mark.
This game highlighted the stark contrast between two teams on different ends of the spectrum in terms of skill and execution. The Baltimore Ravens demonstrated their dominance in all aspects of play while leaving fans eagerly awaiting their next matchup. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins must regroup and learn from this defeat as they strive for improvement in future games.
