Latest news about 2023 NFL trade deadline

NFL trade season is hitting its boiling point.

The trade deadline is just hours away, as teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to make any final in-season deals.

As teams try to make one last move to either gear up for a Super Bowl run or recoup compensation on players with limited organizational futures, here are all the notable trades that have taken place ahead of the deadline.

Let's talk about those teams in the middle, the ones that don't have a clear answer for whether they should be adding players to their roster at the trade deadline or subtracting talent in the hopes of accruing draft capital. I might have an idea of which way they should go, which isn't always in line with what I think they'll actually do come Tuesday. Some should be trading away talent and will go in the opposite direction; others might want to both add or subtract veteran players in the right move.

I'll run through those teams, but first, let's hit the rest of the league and the teams that should obviously be going in one direction or the other. These organizations might or might not actually make deals for veterans over the next two days, but if they do make a move, it should be to add a player or two to their 53-man roster.

The Seattle Seahawks are 5-2 and near the top of the NFC standings, so they don't have a ton of holes. However, with their team quarterback pressure rate rankings just outside the top 10 (36.6%) 12th best in the NFL, Seattle sought to reinforce that area by acquiring Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams, whose 22 quarterback pressures this season now rank as the second most on the Seahawks trailing only linebacker Boye Mafe's 23 by one pressure. Williams is likely a rental since his three-year, $63 million contract expires at the end of this season. The Giants are paying out the majority of the $10 million remaining on his deal, according to NFL Media, and they get a decent draft pick return for a player they were likely to lose in the offseason anyways.

The Giants traded defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Seahawks for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh would like to bolster the team’s offensive line, but doesn’t think other teams are looking to trade offensive linemen.

The Eagles traded defensive lineman Kentavius Street and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Falcons for a 2024 sixth-round pick.
