President Trump crashed a Mother’s Day “celebration” alongside former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during this week’s “Saturday Night Live” cold open.
In the Cold Open, cast members Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang and Marcello Hernandez appeared next to women who seem to be their mothers and sang a song about their mothers before being interrupted by James Austin Johnson’s Trump.
“What the hell am I doing here, huh? There’s a new pope from Chicago,” Trump said shortly after stepping into the skit, referencing Pope Leo XIV recently becoming the first American pope.
Trump later joked that he’ll “send JD back to do his thing” in the case that Leo doesn’t do “what we want,” referencing Vance’s meeting with Pope Francis shortly before the late pontiff’s death.
“But some good news, I just appointed one of the loudest people I know to be U.S. attorney in D.C., Jeanine Pirro. Come on out Jeanine, come on,” Trump said later, with former cast member Cecily Strong’s Pirro joining Trump.
Strong played Pirro multiple times during her run on “SNL,” with fellow cast member Colin Jost often getting splashed with alcohol during her appearances as the television personality.
“Janine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration,” Trump added later.
“And what a team, Mr. President,” Pirro responded. “I’m so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds and people famous for the little baby animals they've killed.”
Trump and Pirro were later joined in the skit by Colin Jost’s Hegseth, who immediately got red wine spit on him by his fellow former Fox News host. Towards the end of the skit, Hegseth hands Pirro a bottle of what seems to be some liquor and opens his mouth after saying, “I promised I would never have a bottle touch my lips,” in reference to allegations of excessive drinking that he has faced.
