The 2025 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) doubled as the ultimate date night for A-list couples.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky‘s headline-making announcement of baby No. 3 undoubtedly stole the spotlight on fashion’s biggest night before RiRi even hit the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art with her tailor-made ensemble. Rocky, who served as one of the co-chairs, told reporters that it felt “amazing” to reveal the good news. “We were tired of holding that, and it was time to show the people what we was cooking up. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us, because we’re definitely happy.”
And while Ciara and Russell Wilson continuously tease each other about expanding their family with baby No. 5 — whom Wilson preemptively and lovingly started calling “Cinco” — the couple stepped out in their superfine looks.
Pharrell Williams, another one of last night’s co-chairs, was one of the first superstars to hit the blue carpet with his wife Helen Lasichanh, who wore Louis Vuitton tights and a brown fur speedy bag to represent the fashion house her husband is the men’s creative director of. He told red carpet host La La Anthony that the “working class” best represent Black dandyism, which was celebrated in the theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. “You work your a– off all week and when it’s time for Sunday’s finest, you put that stuff on.”
