David Spade Has Talent in Spades — and the Net Worth to Prove It ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

David Spade’s legacy may be steeped in Saturday Night Live, but his massive net worth comes from the many, many, many projects he took on in the aftermath of his six-year run on the show.

“I think it’s a stupid business and I’m lucky to be here and am by no means some great actor,” he once told Gothamist. “...I also don’t take it so seriously when people say ‘You’re so great.’”

Born in Birmingham, Mich., the youngest of three boys — one of whom is Andy Spade, who was married to the late Kate Spade — David Spade was raised by a single mother in Arizona after his parents split when he was four.

The experience “toughened” him, he said. “I didn’t even always know it at the time, but it still comes out when I’m tough on my friends to get things done. I’m sort of driven.”

After dropping out, Spade moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at comedy clubs and eventually connected with Dennis Miller, a Saturday Night Live cast member from 1985 to 1991, who helped Spade get a foot in the door at the show.

What is David Spade’s net worth in 2025?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Spade has a net worth of $70 million in 2025. He accumulated his wealth mostly from acting in TV and film, but he’s also earned money through stand-up, podcasting, commercial work and other ventures.

Spade was on SNL from 1990 to 1996. He was famously a member of the cohort known as “The Bad Boys of SNL,” which included Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Chris Farley and Rob Schneider.

When did David Spade leave SNL?

Spade hasn’t disclosed his SNL salary, but the unconfirmed pay ranges floating out there on the internet at the moment are: $3,000 to $7,000 per episode for the first year, $4,000 to $8,000 per episode for the second year, and $15,000 per episode by the fifth year.

Of course, his biggest paydays came from the opportunities the show spawned for him.

What TV shows has David Spade acted in?

Spade’s enormously successful career in television is easily overshadowed by his SNL legacy and ongoing film collaborations with Sandler, but make no mistake: Spade is a TV star. Immediately following SNL, he played a sarcastic executive assistant in NBC’s Just Shoot Me!, which ran for seven seasons. He followed that up with a role in ABC’s 8 Simple Rules, which he joined after the death of star John Ritter. And then there was CBS’s Rules of Engagement, in which he played a wealthy womanizer for another seven seasons.

Spade has not personally revealed his salary for the show, but Celebrity Net Worth put it at $150,000 per episode for the first several seasons and $300,000 per episode starting with the fifth season. That means he made about $31.5 million for the run of the show: $11.1 million for the first four seasons and $20.4 million for the final three.

What happened to David Spade’s late-night show?

Speaking of late-night: In 2015, Spade revealed in an interview with Esquire that he was offered David Letterman’s Late Night slot for a million dollars a year.

“And they were all sort of stunned. They went, ‘Well, it’s like a million dollars a year. It’s Letterman!’ … I said, ‘I always pictured maybe a sitcom or something like that. I want to try that first. I want to go try that. And a talk show feels like the last job you would take. You don’t have another job. That is it.’”

What are David Spade’s comedy specials?

Spade has released three comedy specials with a fourth on the way. They are:
