Tetairoa McMillan getting drafted could’ve been a chance for the Arizona Wildcats to celebrate, given his standing as the university’s all-time leading receiver.
Instead, the standout Wildcat was designated a former “ASU star” by NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport as he reported the Carolina Panthers’ selection, going eighth overall.

It’s not the first time the schools have been mixed up, and it almost assuredly won’t be the last.
It wasn’t even the first time on draft day that they were mixed up, as ESPN had an Arizona State pitchfork on a graphic next to McMillan during College Gameday.
It seems as though ESPN has made another mistake attempting to decipher ASU and UA. That is an ASU logo next to UA wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. pic.twitter.com/utUprG7PtD

The Arizona logo was used by ESPN incorrectly back when the College Football Playoff was decided, showing a very bold take of having the 4-8 Wildcats in a Cinderella tier of playoff teams.
ESPN used Arizona’s logo instead of Arizona State’s when putting the CFP teams into tiers.

Then there were earlier classics, like showing Tempe Town Lake next to ASU as a look-in during an Arizona basketball game.
Ah can confirm they found a new way to confuse Tucson and Tempe. pic.twitter.com/WlH84Kg1Fx

And back during the now-gone days of the Pac-12 Network, it mistakenly showed an Arizona State first-down graphic on the field mere feet away from the block “A” at midfield.
Our own conference (on life support) disrespects the Arizona Wildcats by putting that abomination of a pitchfork graphic on the field??#BearDown pic.twitter.com/u8hzmelRLm
