Manchester City displayed their dominance on the football field as they defeated Fluminense with a resounding 4-0 victory. The match, which took place in the prestigious International Champions Cup, showcased Manchester City's exceptional skills and teamwork.

The star of the game was undoubtedly Alvarez, who scored two brilliant goals that left the Fluminense defense in shambles. His first goal came early in the first half when he skillfully dribbled past three defenders and unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner of the net. The crowd erupted with applause as they witnessed this moment of pure brilliance.

Julian Alvarez struck twice, setting them on their way after just 40 seconds and wrapping up victory late on, while Phil Foden forced an own goal and grabbed the other himself.

It was manager Pep Guardiola’s fourth triumph in the competition but one that came at a cost as influential midfielder Rodri was forced off in the second half with an injury.

The Club World Cup includes teams from all corners of the planet now, but in the 20th century it was known as the ‘Intercontinental Cup’ and only included the Champions of Europe and South America. Those head-to-head ties took place in Japan, and the South American competitors came out on top more often than not.

Urawa Reds of Japan in their semi-final and will hope to claim their fifth title of 2023 on Friday in what has been a record breaking year for the sky blues. Even without their star striker Erling Haaland, who is a big injury doubt, City will be expected to see off Fluminense in the final.

It will be interesting to see how the teams decide to play, Fluminense will probably stick to their own style of wanting to dominate the ball but we know Guardiola’s men won't be too happy about that, it could make for a more open and exciting tie with both teams seeking to press and suffocate the other.
