Islamabad: Pakistan achieved a significant vaccination goal by administering 525,168 vaccine doses in a single day on June 12 amid fears of a deadly fourth wave of coronavirus pandemic. “For the first time, we crossed half a million doses of vaccination,” said Minister Asad Umar in a tweet on Tuesday. Umar, who heads the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), which is leading the pandemic response, said that the pace of vaccination would continue to increase in the coming days. Pakistan aims to vaccinate 70 million eligible people by the end of 2021. The country of 220 million has so far administered 20.5 million doses as of July 13.
