Crash of semi-truck hauling scrap metal closes Highway 101 south of Hopland
Southbound Highway 101 was closed for several hours Wednesday after a semi-truck hauling scrap metal rolled over south of Hopland in Mendocino County, spilling its load onto the roadway. The California Highway Patrol reported around 4 a.m. March 31 that the southbound lanes of Highway 101 were blocked following a traffic collision just south of Comminsky Station Road on Hwy. 101 between Hopland and the Sonoma County line. Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham said crews from the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, as well as the Hopland Fire Department, responded to the collision, which he described as involving a semi-truck that hit the guardrail and rolled over, spilling its load of scrap metal onto
