Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remains one of the greatest from the nation to have starred in the longest format of the game. The veteran is a true all-rounder in the format with 3406 runs in the format and 324 wickets as well.
Despite being the most senior player in the Indian test side, Jadeja was sidelined from the captaincy or vice-captaincy role after Rohit Sharma retired from the format before the start of the India vs England test series.
However, after a stellar knock at Birmingham, Jadeja dazzled in the press conference as well. The batter scored 89 runs, as this is his third tour of England in his 15-year career in the longest format of the game.
When Jadeja was informed about the England assistant coach's bold statement on winning the second test, he replied firmly in Hindi, saying, 'Log press conference mai kuch bhi bol sakte hai.' With this reply, he showed intent to win the game at Birmingham and India's not-so-easy-going attitude for the second test.

Ravindra Jadeja came in to bat at no. 7 for India in the Birmingham test when India was 5 wickets down on Day 1. Jadeja scored 89 runs as he batted alongside Shubman Gill for a long partnership and was not dismissed on Day 1.
He made a significant contribution in playing in the 6th wicket partnership, as they together scored 203 runs for India in the middle order. He was dismissed by Josh Tongue's bowling when he gloved a ball back to wicket-keeper Jamie Smith.
With Jadeja and Gill taking the responsibility, India crossed the 400-run mark early on Day 2, while Shubman also built a 144-run partnership for the 7th wicket alongside Washington Sundar and tormented the English bowlers, as he finished on a huge 269 runs.
"Time is gone now," Ravindra Jadeja responds to Test captaincy talks
The experienced star was asked by the reporters about his views on the India Test captaincy; he, with a cheeky smile on his face, remarked that the time is gone now. This remark also hinted towards Jadeja's growing age and the nearing end to his test career in the coming years.
Ravindra Jadeja, when asked about the Indian skipper Shubman Gill's performance, replied that the batter looked very confident, as, despite the added responsibility, nothing much was felt during Gill's batting at Birmingham.
"Honestly, he looks very confident. He does not look like a captain in batting. He has been given an extra responsibility, he is carrying everything with him. I do not feel anything like that in his batting."
"Even today, unluckily, the ball went in his (fielder's) hand. But today, I did not feel that he would be out in this inning. He played very well," said Ravindra Jadeja on Captain Gill.
Ravindra Jadeja reveals India's bowling tactics on Day 3
Jadeja mapped the Indian plan for bowlers on Day 3 of the second test at Edgbaston. He turned realistic and mentioned that India would look to have 2 or 3 wickets before the onset of lunch early on the third day of play.
"We are not thinking too far ahead. We will have to take 2-3 wickets before lunch tomorrow. If we do that, then we will definitely be ahead in the game. Results can be anything. There have been big partnerships in cricket in the past. We will not take the game too lightly, we were playing with energy today. Hopefully, we will get a good result in India's favour."
