POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
WELFARE CHECK: Caller requested a welfare check at 6:44 a.m. June 29 on someone “slumped over a bench” on East Perkins Street at the railroad tracks. An officer responded and reported that the person was fine.
WELFARE CHECK: Caller at 9:14 a.m. June 29 requested a welfare check on someone in the road at the intersection of North State and Norton streets. An officer responded and reported that the person was fine and “removed from the roadway.”
DEATH: An officer responded to Calvert Court at 9:56 a.m. June 29 and took a report of a death.
PERSON WAVING MACHETE: Caller at the corner of South State Street and Seminary Avenue reported at 12:14 p.m. June 29 that someone was “waving a machete around.” An officer responded and reported “property to be destroyed.”
SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Home Depot on North Orchard Avenue reported at 12:17 p.m. June 29 that someone took multiple items from the business. An officer responded and arrested a 29-year-old Upper Lake man for theft. He was cited and released.
DEATH: Caller in the 400 block of East Gobbi Street requested a “welfare check on a friend” at 2:08 p.m. June 29. An officer responded and took a report of a death.
DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of Cherry Court and Cherry Street at 9:53 p.m. June 29 and arrested Jason A. Sanchez, 30, of Ukiah, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and evading an officer. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.
DISTURBANCE: Caller on Marlene Street reported at 4:26 a.m. June 30 hearing yelling and “possibly one shot.” An officer responded and reported that the area was clear, and the incident was “verbal only.”
MAN WITH KNIFE: Caller on Village Circle reported at 7:26 a.m. June 30 that a man was walking around with a knife. An officer responded and reported that county mental health workers were responding and that property was taken for safekeeping.
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
PORCH COVERED IN SHAVING CREAM: Caller in the 400 block of South Street reported at 9:11 p.m. June 30 that their “door and porch” had been covered in shaving cream for the second time. The caller did not request a response, only that the incident be documented.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
