It's always a talk task setting out to work on a follow-up to a film as universally loved as Jurassic Park.
Following in the footsteps of iconic director Steven Spielberg -- who famously helmed the first two entries in the series -- each subsequent Jurassic Park and Jurassic World director has had their hands full living up to the original entry in the series.
Fortunately, the legendary director behind Jaws, Schindler's List and Raiders of the Lost Ark has proved himself indispensable to later generations of filmmakers, going out of his way to provide some crucial advice to Jurassic World's various directors.
In particular, Gareth Edwards -- the director behind the franchise's latest film, Jurassic World Rebirth -- has revealed the helpful feedback Spielberg had after watching the long-awaited Jurassic World reboot.
"It's a nerve wracking moment when you know Steven is about to call you to give you feedback on a film that you've shown him," the Rogue One director said. "It's kind of like the moment you dream of and fear all your life. I remember the phone just sat on the coffee table of the edit suite, and my editor and I were just looking at the phone, just waiting for it to light up."
In spite of his initial fears over Spielberg's reactions, Edwards nevertheless said that he followed every piece of advice Spielberg gave him about the rough cut of the film, in large part due to Spielberg's impressive track record in the entertainment medium.
"When someone gives you some notes, you can't help it, but in part of your brain, you go, 'Yeah, but what do you know? What have you ever done?'" Edwards said.
"But with Steven, if you go, 'What have you done?' the answer is, every masterpiece you've ever loved," Edwards said with a laugh. "So, you sit there a bit like, 'I'm just gonna do everything you say. Every single note you give, I'm doing it.'"
