Israel’s forces launched a series of raids on Gaza on Tuesday, killing and wounding dozens, while also continuing to target Palestinians waiting for aid with live fire.
Medical sources reported that more than 43 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army including 14 who were waiting to receive aid in central Gaza.
The Palestinian Safa News Agency reported that five citizens were killed and others were wounded when an Israeli drone targeted a group of Palestinians on al-Jarjeer Street in Jabalia al-Balad, north of the strip.
The Civil Defense in Gaza announced on Tuesday that Israel’s ongoing bombardment of the Gaza Strip has caused widespread destruction to buildings and homes, amid ongoing efforts to recover victims and treat the wounded even with a severe shortage of medical and relief supplies.
The Civ confirmed that an Israeli drone dropped bombs on Tuesday morning on a gathering of Palestinians near the al-Zeitoun Sports Club, south of Gaza City. The attack resulted in injuries and panic among civilians in the area.
The Israeli forces, alongside settlers, carried on with their violations in the West Bank through arrests and raids on the al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli forces carried out a series of raids across the West Bank on Tuesday, including the Aktaba suburb east of Tulkarm, using military vehicles and infantry units in a large-scale raid.
They also raided the Dheisheh refugee camp south of Bethlehem, where snipers were positioned on the rooftops of buildings.
UN speaks out
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern over the new evacuation orders issued by Israeli authorities in northern Gaza, which have once again displaced tens of thousands of residents of the Gaza Strip.
The Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, Khaled Khiari, warned that “the level of suffering and brutality in Gaza is unbearable.”
At a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York, UN Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that, “Guterres condemns the continued loss of civilian lives as a result of Israeli airstrikes and any other attacks.”
Dujarric emphasized that the Secretary-General welcomes the ongoing efforts of the mediators and reiterates his call for the parties to urgently reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, said that the continuation of the war in Gaza will only lead to more casualties, while the right way forward is to cease hostilities and engage in negotiations to reach a political settlement.
