Bordeleau, 23, battled injuries at the start and the end of this past season and spent most of the year with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda, where he had 38 points in 59 games. He played one game this season with the Sharks on April 13 in Calgary, but suffered a concussion against the Flames and was not able to join the Barracuda for the playoffs.

Bordeleau signed a one-year deal with the Sharks last July and is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights. He has 18 points in 44 career NHL games and 107 points in 161 games over three-plus seasons with the Barracuda.

Romanov, 25, was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract in May 2023 and was also a pending restricted free agent.

In 10 career games with the Sharks, the 6-foot-5 Romanov was 0-6-0 with an .888 save percentage. All six of his career NHL losses came this season, when he had an .877 save percentage in eight games.

Romanov spent most of the last two seasons with the Barracuda, going 20-15-11 with a .904 save percentage in 50 games.

The Barracuda might already have two goalies for the upcoming season. On Sunday, the Sharks signed Gabriel Carriere to a one-year, two-way contract. In April, Matt Davis, a two-time NCAA champion with the University of Denver, was signed to a one-year AHL contract.

The deadline for NHL teams to issue qualifying offers to players and retain their negotiating rights is today at 2 p.m. (PDT). Players who do not receive qualifying offers will become UFAs, and starting Tuesday, will be eligible to sign with any team.

Other Sharks RFAs include forwards Noah Gregor, Klim Kostin, Thomas Bordeleau, Danil Gushchin, and Brandon Coe.

Gregor and Kostin are not expected to receive QOs, but Gushchin, who, in 2024-25, played 12 games with the Sharks and was the third-leading scorer on the Barracuda roster, is expected to be qualified.
