AUSTIN (KXAN)-- At least four people were injured in an overnight shooting shooting at a strip mall parking off of Braker Lane, police sources confirmed with KXAN.
The shooting happened around 2:38 a.m. on June 28 at 900 East Braker Lane. At this point, sources say there are no reported fatalities. KXAN expects to receive more information from APD Monday, and will update this story with further details when we get them. Sources said the shooting happened near Diablas, a night club in the middle of the shopping plaza. It is unclear if any of the shooters were patrons of any of the businesses.
This isn’t the first time trouble has emerged in this parking lot of the strip mall on Braker Lane. In the fall, business owners told KXAN late night crowds full of underage individuals - most of whom were not visiting the businesses - contributed to various late-night crime stints.
The owner of a nearby sports bar who shares the strip mall with the nightclub and other businesses, said there were “consistent issues with underage groups gathering in the parking lot late at night.”
At the time, there were discussions with the Austin Police Department to find potential solutions and improve safety efforts at these parking lots.
