Nearly 500 flights were delayed Sunday at Denver International Airport amid a severe thunderstorm watch issued for the city and 13 other Colorado counties.
As of 3:40 p.m. Sunday, 467 flights headed in and out of DIA had been delayed, but zero had been canceled, according to flight tracking data from FlightAware.
Flights were seeing an average delay of 41 minutes at that time because of thunderstorms in the area, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
FAA officials said a ground stop at DIA was possible after 2 p.m. Sunday, but one was not active at 3:40 p.m., according to the agency’s website.
Southwest delayed 193 flights on Sunday and 102 United flights failed to leave the gate on time, according to FlightAware.
