LSU adds commitment from in-state athlete to 2026 recruiting class

LSU is looking to pick up some momentum for the 2026 recruiting class, and the Tigers landed an intriguing in-state recruit on Saturday.

This time, the commitment comes in the form of Dezyrian Ellis, a quarterback out of Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Ellis had received offers from Tulane, West Virginia and Houston, among others, but the LSU offer was too much to pass up.

During the 2024 campaign, Ellis threw for over 2,100 yards with 31 touchdowns and ran for more than 800 yards as a dual-threat playmaker. He’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, and all signs point to Ellis changing positions for Brian Kelly. Ellis’s primary recruit is listed as Corey Raymond, the secondary coach for the Tigers, so it’s likely his ultimate destination is as a defensive back.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Ellis is a 3-star athlete for the 2026 recruiting class. He’s listed as the 34th ATH in the country and the No. 15 overall prospect out of Louisiana for 2026.

The addition of Ellis brings LSU’s recruiting class up to 11 hard commitments, a group that ranked 17th nationally prior to his commitment per the team composite rankings. Ellis is the 7th in-state prospect so far to commit to the Tigers.
