DENVER (KDVR) — The Boulder terror attack suspect accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at a group of demonstrators pleaded not guilty to federal hate crime and explosive charges.
On Friday morning, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, pleaded not guilty in court after being indicted by a federal grand jury on 12 hate crime counts. Soliman faces nine hate crime charges and three explosive charges.
This comes after what the FBI called a "targeted terror attack" on June 1 when Soliman allegedly threw Molotov cocktails, glass bottles with flammable liquid and stuffed with rags, at a group of demonstrators that peacefully gathered on the Pearl Street Mall.
This attack was during the Run for Their Lives organization's weekly peaceful event that called for the release of the hostages held by Hamas. The indictment said that Soliman allegedly entered with a weed sprayer and 18 Molotov cocktails. He reportedly shouted "Free Palestine" and threw two bottles.
There were 15 people and one dog reportedly injured in the attack, according to the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The victims ranged from 25 to 88 years old, including a Holocaust survior.
