HGTV stars Ben and Erin Napier, of Home Town fame, are sharing their unexpected idea for a possible new show.
TV Insider reported that Erin took to her Instagram account to share that she and her husband would like to have a series wherein they react to beloved movies on June 26. She said she thinks it would be "fun" if she and her husband had a show where they "sit in a dark movie theater like Mystery Science Theater [3000]" and talk "about the houses and the set design and why these characters live in these rooms and these houses and what it says about the character.”
"It's our obsession in real life. What if we just made a show about it?" said Erin.
Ben then explained the series would be the couple watching "old Nancy Meyers movies, like [The] Parent Trap.”
Erin also made sure her fans knew that "HGTV has absolutely not said they want to make this show." She then asked her fans if they would like to watch the series.
"Don't you think we should pitch that?" inquired Erin.
"just saying, I would watch this all day everyday @hgtv @wbd," read the caption of the post.
Several commenters share they would be interested in watching the series.
"I would totally watch this, and dang it would be SO GOOD to see those films on the big screen again! My dream would’ve been a set dresser :)," wrote a commenter.
"I would watch that! I loved Mystery Science Theater btw…but talking about homes and scenery sounds awesome!" added another.
"Yessssss. I’d watch that all day long because let’s be real, I’m evaluating interiors anytime I’m watching anything anyway!!" shared a different person.
TV Insider reported that the Napiers' new show idea comes at the heels of the recent cancellation of several HGTV series, including Married to Real Estate, Bargain Block, and Farmhouse Fixer.
The Napiers, who have two daughters, Mae and Helen, spoke about starring on HGTV during a March 2025 interview with TV Insider. The couple, who began shooting Home Town in 2016, said they would keep filming for the network until they are no longer asked to do so.
"HGTV has been extremely good to us and our family. Somebody asked me recently, 'How much longer are you going to do this?' We’ll do it until they don’t want us to, I guess," said Ben to the publication.
