Brothers accused of leading police on chase that killed man in Brighton due in court

BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Two brothers are due in court on Friday, accused of leading police on a chase in a stolen car last August that ended in a crash that killed a 92-year-old man.

Police say three teenagers in a stolen Kia crashed into a car driven by Thomas Chase, an Eastman School of Music graduate who was returning from playing piano at Brighton nursing home. Chase was turning left from East Avenue to Elmwood Avenue in Brighton. He died at the scene.

One brother, alleged driver Theodice Parks, is facing multiple charges, including second-degree murder and aggravated vehicular homicide. The 17-year-old was on parole for burglary at the time. His 19-year-old brother, alleged passenger Theophilus Parks, and another teen are both charged with assault.

We’re working to learn what the court appearance in Monroe County Court is for. A judge has set their trial date for August after it was postponed several times.

Police say the car was speeding over 100 miles per hour. The chase started as part of an investigation into gunfire in the City of Rochester on Maria Street off Clifford Avenue. Theodice Parks was arrested 12 times before the crash, accused of using stolen cars to break into businesses.
