HGTVs Major Shakeup Has Fans Saying the Same Thing

HGTV announced a major shakeup with the cancellation of four shows and two more on the chopping block—and fans of the network are all saying the same thing.

In recent weeks, hosts of various HGTV series have confirmed they will not be returning, including Farmhouse Fixer, Bargain Block, Married to Real Estate and Izzy Does It.

Meanwhile, the fates of two other shows are still up in the air: Luxe for Less and Unsellable Houses.

Farmhouse Fixer host Jonathan Knight took to Instagram on June 25 to confirm his show won't return to HGTV.

"A lot of you have been asking about the future of Farmhouse Fixer. I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season," he revealed. "While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina [Crestin] and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons."

He concluded, "Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us."

In the comments, fans expressed their disappointment and confusion, with one Instagram user writing, "I am devastated. Farmhouse Fixer was one of my favorites. They will come to realize their mistake. Love you guys."

Another shared, "First Married to Real Estate and now your show. I think I’m taking a break from HGTV. They don’t deserve my views. How do you cancel successful shows with good numbers. ?."

On June 22, Bargain Block host Keith Bynum shared his show's cancellation on Instagram alongside a photo of himself and his co-host, Evan Thomas.

"Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future," Bynum wrote." Everyone always told us TV is a fickle world and they are very right. Tv is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered."

To conclude his update, Bynum shared, "Evan and I have always tried hard to stick to what we know and what we’re good at which is being ourselves. We love you all and we’re very excited to announce what’s next soon! Enjoy this beautiful Sunday!"

In the comments, one fan lamented, "Still can’t comprehend how one of HGTVs highest rated shows isn’t being brought back!! Your fan base is huge and we don’t understand why??."

Another echoed, "HUGE mistake on the part of HGTV! You guys are quite simply THE best show they had going for them! I’m looking forward to bigger and better things from the two of you!"

Izzy Does It host Izzy Battres replied to a fan asking about another season of the HGTV show, writing on June 23, "Unfortunately no Season 2 but we’re truly, thankful for everyone watching and supporting us!!"

To that, one Instagram follower replied, "Aww nooo ? I enjoyed your show so much and it seem like it was pretty popular so I’m surprised but I hope they change their mind and maybe it’ll come back in the future ?."

Another wrote, "I am so disappointed you're not renewed. I love your show. Not only because you are a top notch contractor, I loved the family dynamic working with your wife kids and brother. "

And on June 24, Married to Real Estate's hosts Mike Jackson and Egypt Sherrod revealed their show would not return, either.

"HGTV has decided not to move forward to Married to Real Estate," Sherrod confirmed on Instagram. "While the bain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful."

In the comments of Sherrod's post, one Instagram user declared, "WHHHAATTTTTTTT?!!! My mouth dropped open from pure shock. It definitely couldn’t been from numbers because you guys are SO well loved by everyone. Your design and craftsmanship is unlike anything else on that network. This is pure insanity."

Someone else commented, "I am extremely disappointed in HGTV!!! You and Mike are such an inspiration and example of black excellence, love and family!! I already know God will continue to prosper you both. Thank you for giving us a small window into your life."

Essentially, HGTV fans are upset and baffled by the network's canceling spree. It will be interesting to see if Luxe for Less and Unsellable Houses have the same fates.
