POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.

DISTURBANCE: Caller at Safeway on South State Street reported at 4:29 a.m. June 22 that an unwanted person was at the business. An officer responded and reported that the person was “counseled and leaving upon request.” At 7:18 a.m., a caller at the business reported a battery. An officer responded but the person left prior to his arrival.

    TRAFFIC STOP: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Brush Street at 8:07 a.m. June 22 and arrested a 34-year-old Ukiah woman for possession of drug paraphernalia and violating her parole. She was booked at Mendocino County Jail.

    PEDESTRIAN STOP: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously on the Rail Trail at Ford Road and arrested a 45-year-old Gualala man for possession of drug paraphernalia and violating his parole. He was booked at county jail.

    ILLEGAL CAMPING: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously at the end of Cunningham Street at 12:06 p.m. June 22 and cited a 35-year-old Ukiah man and a 40-year-old Washington State woman for violating city camping codes and polluting state waterways.

    MAN RUNNING INTO TRAFFIC: Caller in the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported at 2:27 p.m. June 22 that a man was running in and out of traffic. An officer responded and arrested a 36-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public and violating his parole. He was booked into county jail.

    TRESPASS: Caller on Village Circle reported at 7:37 p.m. that a woman was “lying on the ground out front charging her phone.” An officer responded but the person was gone.

    SUSPICIOUS PERSON: An officer contacted a pedestrian in the 900 block of South State Street at 7:54 p.m. June 22 and arrested a 19-year-old Ukiah man for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, violating his probation and for local warrants. He was booked into county jail.

    MAN CHASING PEOPLE: Caller in the 300 block of East Perkins Street reported at 8:12 p.m. June 22 that a man was chasing people into vehicles. An officer responded and arrested a 40-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public. He was booked into county jail.

    INDECENCY IN PARK: Caller at Vinewood Park reported at 8:36 p.m. June 22 that people were “engaged in indecent activities.” An officer responded and arrested a 50-year-old Ukiah man for violating his parole and booked him into county jail. A 31-year-old Ukiah woman was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

    SHOPLIFTERS: Caller at Lucky on East Perkins Street reported at 9:03 p.m. June 22 that people had stolen items and requested that they be given no-trespassing status. An officer responded but the people were gone.

    STABBING: Caller on Washington Avenue reported at 9:40 p.m. June 22 that a man was “yelling about a stabbing.” An officer responded and reported that no weapons were seen, and that the area was quiet upon arrival and departure with no problems observed.

    DRUG POSSESSION: An officer contacted a pedestrian in the 100 block of Thomas Street at 1:47 a.m. June 23 and arrested a 44-year-old Ukiah man for possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence and for violating his parole. He was booked into county jail.

    PARKING COMPLAINT: Caller in the 100 block of East Gobbi Street reported a parking issue at 7:43 a.m. June 23. An officer responded and reported that the vehicle owner was counseled and advised.

    PARKING COMPLAINT: A parking issue was reported in the 100 block of Clara Avenue at 8:33 a.m. June 23. An officer responded and took a report of a tow.

    DEATH: An officer responded to the 1300 block of Helen Avenue at 11:08 a.m. June 23 and took a report of a death.

    HIT AND RUN: Caller at Todd Grove Park reported a hit and run had occurred near the public pool. An officer responded and arrested Amanda L. Kennedy, 37, of Nice, on suspicion of driving under the influence of a drug, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and willful cruelty to a child causing possible injury/death. She was booked into county jail.

    Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
