“Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion, but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.” – Adlai Stevenson
“Where liberty dwells, there is my country.” – Benjamin Franklin “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” – John F. Kennedy
Someone once said, “Duty, honor, country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.”
Perhaps the most iconic quote of the American Revolution, Patrick Henry’s “give me liberty or give me death!,” was a call to arms in light of British oppression in the American colonies.
We seem to be a nation floundering on identity, yet our nation’s founding fathers had a clear understanding. Let us form one body, one heart, and defend to the last warrior our country, our homes, our liberty, and the graves of our fathers.
“True patriotism springs from a belief in the dignity of the individual, freedom and equality not only for Americans but for all people on earth.” (Anon)
Would that there would be less name calling, less division, less protest and instead a willingness to join others working cooperatively to make America better.
