Denver weather: Pinpoint Weather Alert Day on Tuesday with strong afternoon storms

DENVER (KDVR) — Storms will fire up in the Denver metro early Tuesday afternoon, before pushing out into the plains with a slight risk for severe storms.

Denver will see partly cloudy skies for the first half of the day as temperatures climb into the lower 80s.

    Storms are expected to fire up across the Interstate 25 corridor and metro Denver in the early afternoon, before pushing to the east. Storms can get stronger as they push east with hail, gusty winds and even an isolated tornado.

    That slight risk for severe weather means Tuesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day. There are also fire weather warnings for the western slope from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. with increased fire danger.

    Storms will clear quickly, and Denver will have cloudy skies Tuesday night. Overnight low temperatures will dip into the lower 60s with light winds.

    Wednesday also has chances for some scattered storms in the afternoon, but it won't be as severe as Tuesday. Highs on Wednesday will be in the lower 80s with partly cloudy skies.
