Central Ohio Weather and Radar
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Central Ohio has seen plenty of showers and thunderstorms over the last several days. The pattern will finally break with a cold front that will usher in drier air later on Thursday, but not before another round of storms on the more potent side.
A line of strong to severe storms will approach central Ohio later this evening into the early hours of Thursday.
The strength of these storms as they enter the state will be determined by how much instability is left over in the environment. Given their time of arrival, instability will tend to decrease but will still be sufficient for some stronger storms, especially across the northwestern counties.
The Storm Prediction Center has most of Columbus and along the Interstate 71 corridor in a Level 2 out of 5, or Slight Risk, for severe weather.
The biggest threat with these storms will be from strong, damaging wind gusts. There is also the potential for some large hail as well as a small chance for an isolated tornado.
Storm Team 4 will continue to monitor this system and provide any updates to changes in the forecast.
