The ongoing Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Galle will be Angelo Mathews' last as a player.
The former Sri Lanka cricketer announced his retirement from the longest format of the game last month.
While confirming his decision on social media, Angelo Mathews had said that while he would be retiring from Tests, he would remain available for white-ball selection "if and when my country needs me". As he walked out on the field as a Sri Lanka Test cricketer for one last time, the players of his club, Colts Cricket Club, made it a special occasion.
As Angelo Mathews entered the field, the players formed a guard of honor by raising their bats in a symbolic gesture to acknowledge the veteran all-rounder's remarkable contribution to Sri Lankan cricket as well as the club. Mathews was also quick to acknowledge the gesture from the players.

"Honestly, I can't believe the amount of love I've been receiving from across the world, thankful for all of it. I want to thank my family, my parents, everyone who has been associated with my journey, my school and college, I'm humbled by the love and appreciation.
"Feeling quite special, realizing that I have played over 100 Tests, wearing this Sri Lankan jersey was a dream come true, I've been proud to represent Sri Lanka across all formats of the game," said Mathews.
